A lot of the mixes on this site are featured by DJs who happen to be men. A lot of the clothes on this site happen to be for people who are women. There are reasons for both of those statements: 1) There are just more male DJs out there, period, for whatever reason, and as a result, there is more material out there by male djs than those of “the fairer sex.” I’ve got to say that no talent gap exists, so why there is a shortage of ladies on the decks, I am not sure. 2) Women’s clothes are more interesting visually (at least in the way we display them on this site). Men’s clothes are cool, but sometimes, you have to work reaaaaally hard to create an outfit for men that goes beyond the basic pants + top
+ pair of shoes = outfit. Designers, while they focus on tailoring with men, tend to create cooler women’s clothing with more extreme details, colors, and the like. It’s unfortunate, really, and I am not sure what I would do if I were a guy. I’d probably just make my own clothes . . .
For this week’s Get Dressed to This, I thought I’d mix it up a little and intentionally feature a mix by a woman and profile clothing for a man. I hope you enjoy!
