There is no doubt that the work Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did during his time was epoch-altering. His legacy continues to inspire millions worldwide, and in the U.S., he is cited in almost every discussion of great American movements for equal rights. But in discussions of MLK, people often forget about Coretta, his devoted wife, who stood by him during all the turmoil that resulted from his shaking up the system in the 1950s and 60s. And while we now turn to women like Jackie O., also the wife of a slain leader, to pinpoint grace and style, we forget about some of the other women of the era, Coretta Scott King being one of them.
So I would love to join the droves of blogs talking about the accomplishments of MLK and his family, but in the Retail DJ way. With that said, here’s a little homage to Coretta Scott King, an overlooked yet incredibly stylish woman, a fashion icon in her own right. Enjoy:
